My client is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to support their finance operations. This role focuses on managing the Accounts Payable function while assisting with month-end and year-end processes. Key Responsibilities:
- Process supplier invoices in line with company policies and procedures.
- Perform supplier statement reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare and process payment runs (electronic and manual).
- Monitor and manage aged payables, following up on overdue items.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date AP documentation.
- Post journals, accruals, and prepayments as directed by the Financial Controller.
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register, ensuring timely updates for additions/disposals and correct depreciation.
- Support bank reconciliations, payroll reports, VAT returns, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Assist with reviewing and reconciling key balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare audit schedules and support the year-end close process.
- Liaise with external auditors and help resolve audit queries.
- Assist in compiling data for the preparation of statutory financial statements.
- Generate ad-hoc financial reports upon request.
- Support variance analysis and other financial insights for decision-making.
Key Requirements:
- Part-qualified ACCA (or equivalent), actively studying.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a finance or accounting role.
- Solid knowledge of accounts payable and month-end processes.
- Proficient in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- High attention to detail, strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Experience supporting external audits.
- Familiarity with Irish tax legislation (VAT, RCT, PAYE).
- Exposure to AP automation tools or shared services environments.
