Morgan McKinley are seeking an experienced Category Lead to join a growing team in Athlone. This is a permanent role with hybrid working options.
The Category Lead (Logistics) is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships for logistics-related services, including transportation, warehousing, freight forwarding, and distribution. The role ensures cost efficiency, service quality, and compliance with procurement policies while supporting supply chain operations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for logistics categories, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Conduct market analysis to identify potential suppliers, industry trends, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Lead RFQ/RFP processes and negotiate contracts with logistics providers, including freight carriers, 3PLs, and warehouse service providers.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key logistics suppliers to ensure service reliability and performance.
- Manage contract renewals, pricing negotiations, and supplier performance reviews.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives within logistics procurement while maintaining service quality.
- Analyze procurement data and trends to drive strategic decision-making.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, legal regulations, and industry standards.
- Work closely with supply chain, operations, and finance teams to align logistics procurement with overall business needs.
Key Requirements:
- 4+ years of procurement experience, preferably in logistics categories.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) or APICS (Association for Supply Chain Management) are desirable.
- Proficiency in procurement tools, ERP systems, and data analytics.
