A leading global professional services firm is seeking an Assistant Director, Total Rewards to lead and optimize compensation and benefits strategies in Japan. In this key leadership role, you will design and implement total rewards programs, ensure compliance with Japanese labor laws, and drive competitive salary structures, benefits administration, and incentive programs. You will collaborate with regional and global HR teams to align reward strategies with the company’s long-term objectives while providing expert guidance on employment law and regulatory changes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage total rewards programs, including compensation, benefits, and incentives to attract and retain top talent.
- Ensure compliance with Japanese labor laws, tax regulations, and social insurance requirements, leveraging Sharoushi expertise.
- Act as a key advisor on employment law, employee relations, and regulatory compliance related to compensation and benefits.
- Conduct market benchmarking and salary analysis to maintain competitive positioning in the industry.
- Collaborate with global and regional HR teams to align total rewards strategies with the company’s broader objectives.
- Lead the annual compensation review process, overseeing salary adjustments, bonuses, and promotions.
- Oversee employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and additional perks, ensuring alignment with market best practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- 7+ years in total rewards, compensation, and benefits, ideally within a multinational company or professional services firm.
Certifications:
- Sharoushi (社会保険労務士) certification is required.
Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of Japanese employment laws, tax regulations, and social insurance policies.
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
Language Requirements
- Japanese: Native (required for compliance and advisory responsibilities).
- English: Intermediate to Business-level (for global communication).
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in salary structuring, benefits administration, and performance-based compensation.
- Strong ability to manage cross-functional collaboration across global and regional teams.
