Our client is a leading civil engineering contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across Ireland. The Commercial Manager will be responsible for overseeing the commercial aspects of multiple infrastructure projects from inception to completion. This position requires a strong background in cost management, contract administration, and commercial negotiations, along with the ability to manage client relationships and lead a dynamic commercial team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the commercial management of infrastructure projects, including cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Develop and implement strategies to maximize profitability and minimize financial risks across projects.
- Prepare and review tender submissions, contract negotiations, and project proposals.
- Manage the preparation of accurate valuations, applications for payments, and variations.
- Ensure the timely and accurate submission of cost reports and forecasts to senior management and clients.
- Monitor project performance against budgets and schedules, ensuring financial and commercial targets are met.
- Work closely with project teams to ensure project delivery aligns with commercial objectives.
- Advise on contract terms and conditions, helping to resolve any contractual issues or disputes that arise.
- Manage subcontractor and supplier negotiations and agreements, ensuring best value for the company.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and suppliers to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Mentor and lead a team of quantity surveyors and commercial staff, providing guidance and development opportunities.
Key Requirements:
- At least 5-7 years' experience in a Commercial Manager role, with a strong background in managing large-scale infrastructure projects.
- In-depth knowledge of commercial contract law, procurement practices, and financial management in construction.
- Proven experience in cost estimation, budgeting, and forecasting for civil engineering projects.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in managing project finances and reporting tools.
- Strong analytical skills and a problem-solving approach to managing commercial challenges.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
