Procurement Manager
Job Description:
We are currently seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to join our dynamic team in Co. Offaly, Ireland. As a strategic Procurement Manager within the construction industry, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the procurement of essential raw materials and supplies, including steel, concrete, aggregates, and hardware, to support construction projects onsite.
This role requires not only tactical procurement skills but also the ability to develop and implement long-term procurement strategies that align with the company's business objectives. You will be responsible for driving supplier management, achieving significant cost savings, and contributing to the optimization of procurement processes across projects.
The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in procurement within the construction sector, with a strong focus on strategic supplier management, cost savings initiatives, and sourcing critical raw materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategic procurement plans to support the long-term goals of the business, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability in sourcing materials.
- Lead the procurement of construction materials, including steel, concrete, aggregates, and hardware, ensuring the best value for the company and alignment with project timelines.
- Establish and nurture long-term relationships with key suppliers, driving continuous improvements in service delivery, pricing, and supply chain efficiency.
- Conduct thorough market analysis to identify emerging trends, potential cost-saving opportunities, and future material supply needs.
- Collaborate closely with senior management and other departments to ensure alignment of procurement strategy with business objectives.
- Drive supplier negotiations, leveraging data and market intelligence to secure favorable terms and optimize purchasing costs.
- Oversee the management of procurement budgets, ensuring strong financial control and adherence to cost-saving targets.
- Develop and implement supplier performance metrics and manage relationships to drive continuous improvement and strategic sourcing decisions.
- Monitor and resolve any supply chain issues or delays, ensuring that materials are available when and where required to avoid project disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, legal regulations, and health & safety standards.
- Lead the procurement team in driving strategic initiatives for procurement efficiency, innovation, and cost reduction.
Key Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in procurement, ideally within the construction industry.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing procurement strategies that deliver cost savings and operational efficiencies.
- Strong expertise in supplier management, with a track record of driving supplier performance and developing long-term, strategic partnerships.
- In-depth knowledge of raw materials, including steel, concrete, aggregates, and hardware used in construction.
- Exceptional strategic thinking, negotiation skills, and the ability to manage complex procurement processes.
- Ability to work closely with senior management and other key stakeholders to align procurement strategies with broader business goals.
- Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with procurement software and systems.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Business, Supply Chain, or Construction Management is an advantage.
