Job Description:
As a Building Services Mechanical Engineer (Junior PM), you will play a key role in the design, installation, and management of mechanical building services systems, including HVAC, heating, ventilation, and plumbing systems, for a major residential project. You will work closely with senior engineers and project managers to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of mechanical services to meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing the mechanical aspects of the project, from initial design through to installation and commissioning.
- Coordinate the installation of HVAC, heating, ventilation, and plumbing systems across the project.
- Help with reviewing and preparing technical documentation, including system designs and specifications.
- Support the monitoring and reporting of mechanical systems installation progress, ensuring the project remains on schedule and within budget.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving mechanical system issues during the project lifecycle.
- Ensure that all mechanical work complies with relevant building regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Liaise with other project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination and project progression.
- Prepare project reports and assist in maintaining project schedules and budgets under the guidance of the Senior Project Manager.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the project team and subcontractors when needed.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous experience working in mechanical building services, ideally within the construction or project management environment.
- Some experience in project coordination or management, particularly in residential projects.
- Solid understanding of mechanical building systems such as HVAC, heating, plumbing, and ventilation.
- Knowledge of relevant construction processes, building codes, and safety regulations.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software (e.g., MS Project, Procore) is an advantage.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working on large residential or commercial projects.
- Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) and other engineering tools.
- Project management or building services training or qualifications (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) would be beneficial.
