Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and proactive EHS Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the company's environmental, health, and safety policies are up-to-date and strictly followed. You will play a key role in creating a safe working environment, reducing risks, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other federal, state, and local regulations regarding safety and environmental standards.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to employees regarding EHS practices, procedures, and emergency response protocols.
- Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and near misses, providing detailed reports and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Maintain records of safety inspections, incidents, and environmental monitoring as required by law.
- Develop and deliver training programs on topics such as hazard communication, emergency response, ergonomics, and safe work practices.
- Coordinate environmental and safety audits by external agencies and ensure any corrective actions are implemented promptly.
- Support the development of incident and injury prevention strategies, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Track and report on safety metrics to identify trends, improve safety protocols, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Liaise with local regulatory agencies and environmental consultants as required.
- Support the management of hazardous materials, waste disposal, and recycling programs.
- Participate in the development and implementation of Emergency Response and Business Continuity Plans.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field.
- 2-3 years experince in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety and environmental regulations.
- Certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or equivalent preferred.
- Strong understanding of environmental health and safety best practices, hazard identification, and risk assessment techniques.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
