A top European financial institution is seeking a Vice President - Legal to provide strategic legal support for capital markets in Japan. You will manage ISDA/CSA, GMRA/GMSLA agreements, and Japanese law repos, advising on compliance, risk mitigation, and regulatory changes. This role requires strong expertise in financial law, a deep understanding of capital markets, and the ability to collaborate with internal teams and external legal advisors.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advisory support to the Global Market Division (GMD) in Tokyo
- Draft, review, and manage agreements, including ISDA/CSA, GMRA/GMSLA, and Japanese law repos
- Advise the Compliance team on financial regulations, risk mitigation, and policy adherence
- Manage external legal counsel to align with the firm's strategic objectives
- Oversee capital markets-related legal disputes and contribute to risk management strategies
- Monitor regulatory changes and provide insights to leadership teams
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Japanese-qualified or foreign-qualified lawyer with expertise in financial services law
- 7+ years of legal experience in financial services, preferably in capital markets
- Strong regulatory knowledge, including financial risk and compliance laws
- Native-level Japanese and fluent English communication skills
